On their first missionary journey, Barnabas and Saul crossed Cyprus to Paphos. There the Roman governor, Sergius Paulus, “a man of intelligence”, called for them because he wanted to hear the Word of God. A sorcerer named Elymas tried to turn him away from the faith, but the Holy Spirit confronted the opposition, and the governor believed.
The Gospel is not afraid of palaces, parliaments or ministries. God can open the hearts of those who govern.
France has been through a long season of political instability. Since the snap elections of 2024 the National Assembly has been deeply divided, governments have fallen in quick succession, and public debt is heading towards 117 per cent of national output. Trust in leaders is low and many young people feel unheard. At the same time, new laws on the end of life, the family and religious freedom are reshaping the nation.
Scripture commands us to pray “for kings and all who are in high positions”. Pray for France’s President, Prime Minister, members of parliament, mayors and civil servants. Ask God to give them wisdom, integrity and humility. And pray that many, like Sergius Paulus, will hear the Word of God and believe.
Pray for national and local leaders to govern with justice and integrity, for laws that protect life, family and freedom of conscience, and for Christians whom God calls into public service.
“Righteousness exalts a nation, but sin is a reproach to any people.” — Proverbs 14:34
The Comité Protestant évangélique pour la Dignité Humaine (CPDH) is an evangelical association that defends the dignity of every human life, from conception to natural death. It equips Christians with clear, biblical information on ethical questions and engages respectfully with members of parliament and public authorities.
Throughout the long national debate on assisted dying, the CPDH joined other organisations in calling for better palliative care and warned that the new law risks abandoning the most vulnerable people in society.
Pray for its team, for wisdom in its advocacy, and for a gracious Christian voice in French public life.

Did you know? Joshua Project lists France’s 226,000 Turks among the least-reached frontier peoples today.
Pray: Father, bless Turkish families across France. Give them Turkish Bibles, Christian friends and faithful fellowships. May second-generation young people discover that Jesus is the way, the truth and the life. Amen.

Strasbourg, capital of Alsace on the Rhine border with Germany, has about 290,000 inhabitants. It is home to the European Parliament and the Council of Europe, making it a symbol of European democracy. During the Reformation it was a refuge for persecuted believers: Martin Bucer led its church, and from 1538 to 1541 John Calvin pastored a congregation of French Protestant refugees here. Because of its unique history, Alsace still has special arrangements for religion that differ from the rest of France. Its Gothic cathedral and famous Christmas market draw visitors from across the world.
Roagă-te: Pray for European decision-makers in Strasbourg to honour God, and for revival in Alsace’s historic churches and its growing immigrant congregations.
“The king’s heart is a stream of water in the hand of the LORD; he turns it wherever he will.” — Proverbs 21:1
We declare over Strasbourg and France: the Lord reigns over every parliament and palace. Leaders will hear God’s Word and believe. Righteousness will exalt this nation, and truth will prevail.
